The “Renovation of the Residence” action is a new funding initiative under the ESPA 2021–2027 programme, aiming to upgrade and make better use of Greece’s existing residential building stock by providing significant financial support for residential renovation projects.
Through the Action, eligible property owners and usufructuaries can carry out renovation works that improve the functionality, safety, and overall quality of their residences. Depending on the applicant’s income and social criteria, the grant may cover up to 95% of the eligible project budget.
As part of the implementation of the Action, the process for issuing a Certificate of Eligibility is now open. Obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility is the first mandatory step for applicants wishing to submit a Funding Application.
During this stage, the applicant’s personal details and the property’s information are verified to determine whether the eligibility requirements of the Action are met.
It should be noted that the issuance of a Certificate of Eligibility does not constitute approval of funding. However, it is a mandatory prerequisite for proceeding with the submission of a Funding Application.

The application is submitted electronically through the official gov.gr platform using the applicant’s TAXISnet credentials.

Extended Deadline and Expanded Eligibility Criteria
According to the latest official announcements, the deadline for issuing a Certificate of Eligibility for closed residences has been extended until 31 August 2026, while the eligibility criteria have also been expanded to include a broader range of eligible properties and beneficiaries under the Action.
For open residences, the deadline for issuing a Certificate of Eligibility remains 31 July 2026.
