The 2026 Farm Improvement Plans, introduced under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan 2023–2027, offer new funding opportunities to modernize agricultural operations, improve resource efficiency, and promote the adoption of renewable energy technologies.

With a strong focus on the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, the programme supports investments aimed at reducing operating costs, enhancing competitiveness, and improving the energy performance of agricultural businesses.

Three Key Funding Interventions

The programme comprises three main interventions:

  • P3-73-2.1 – Farm Improvement Plans Contributing to Competitiveness: Investments in the modernization of agricultural operations, infrastructure, and production equipment.
  • P3-73-2.2 – Investments in Agricultural Holdings Contributing to Water Conservation: Investments aimed at improving water resource management and efficiency.
  • P3-73-2.6 – Circular Economy and Energy Investments in Agricultural Holdings: Investments promoting renewable energy generation, energy efficiency, and environmental protection.

Up to 70% Funding for Energy Investments

Under intervention P3-73-2.6, financial support of up to 70% of eligible expenditure is available, subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of the programme.

Eligible investment categories include, among others:

  • Photovoltaic (PV) systems, either grid-connected or off-grid.
  • Energy storage and management systems, subject to specific eligibility requirements.
  • Geothermal heat pumps.
  • Heat pumps for heating or cooling livestock production facilities and agricultural product storage facilities.

These energy solutions can help reduce electricity costs, improve operational efficiency, and support the long-term sustainability of agricultural businesses.

The eligibility of each investment is determined by the programme’s specific requirements, including the necessary technical and energy-related documentation.

What Is the Maximum Eligible Investment Budget?

Under intervention P3-73-2.6, the maximum eligible investment budgets are:

  • €200,000 for individuals and legal entities.
  • €500,000 for collective entities.

These amounts represent the maximum eligible investment budgets, not the actual grant amounts. Specific conditions, limitations, and exceptions apply in accordance with the official call for applications.

Who Can Benefit?

Subject to the programme’s eligibility requirements, funding is available to individuals and legal entities operating in the agricultural sector, as well as eligible collective entities.

Participation and funding approval depend on meeting the eligibility criteria and the assessment of the proposed investment project.
